About Anaheim City Council candidate Thomas "Hoagy" Holguin
Thomas “Hoagy” Holguin, Republican, commenced service as an AUHSD trustee in October 2000. He was elected to the governing board in November 2002 and was re-elected in 2006, for a 4 year term. In addition, he served as a trustee for North Orange County ROP for 9 years. Hoagy has been a resident and a prominent businessman in Anaheim for over 25 years. He boasts current success as a contractor, and has previously owned a dance studio and preschools. His collegiate experience is commensurate with his business successes, with focus in the areas of Business Administration, Early Childhood Education.
His platform is as follows: Public Safety, Fiscal Responsibility, Business/Job Creation, Investing in our Neighborhoods, Educational Excellence and Graffiti Removal.
He was the LAPD citizen of the year: 1990, 1992, 2006, 2009 and 2010. He has proudly served his community as commissioner for Anaheim Redevelopment and Housing, on the executive board of the Anaheim Prep Sports/Activities Foundation, executive board member for the Anaheim Boys and Girls Club. He was chairperson of the Community Development Block Grant Committee and is an alumnus of the Leadership Anaheim organization, where he served as an ambassador for the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. He has also served on the advisory and education committees for the Orange County Board of Supervisors.
He is an Anaheim Fall Festival Parade committee member, a consistent supporter of our Anaheim Police Officers and Fire Fighters, sits on the advisory and education committees for the O. C. Supervisor, and proudly advocates for our American Soldiers. In an effort to mentor and give to the community he is so passionate about, he is active in the following community organizations: Anaheim Police Officers Honorary Association, Cops 4 Kids, Anaheim Host Lions Club, Southern California Special Olympics, the YMCA, Paint Your Heart Out Anaheim, the City of Hope Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation, the Boy Scouts of America, ASPCA and a volunteer with the Orange County Search and Rescue.
Mr. Holguin and his wife Patricia are proudest of their successful son and 4 daughters, all of whom hold graduate degrees. He has 4 granddaughters and a grandson. He holds his family and his community in the highest esteem.
