About Anaheim City Council candidate Thomas "Hoagy" Holguin

Thomas "Hoagy" Holguin was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Anaheim Union High School District in October of 2000 finishing a vacant term and was then elected in November 2002 and was reelected in 2006 and served as President of the Board.  Hoagy is a long time Anaheim resident and a prominent business owner in the community of over 25 years. He boasts current success as a contractor, and has previously owned a dance studio and preschools.

Hoagy's collegiate experience is commensurate with his business successes, with focus in the areas of Business Administration, Early Childhood Education, as well as Criminal Justice.  He is a graduate of the CSBA Masters in Governance program and was the Los Angeles Police Department citizen of the year in 1990, 1992, and 2006.  Hoagy has proudly served his community as Commissioner for Anaheim Redevelopment and Housing, on the executive board of the Anaheim Prep Sports/Activities Foundation, executive board member for the Anaheim Boys and Girls Club, Chairperson of the Community Development Block Grant program and is an alumnus of the Leadership Anaheim organization where he served as an ambassador for the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce.  He has also served on the advisory and education committees for the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

In an effort to mentor and give to the community that he is so passionate about, Hoagy continues to be active in numerous community organizations, including: Anaheim Police Officers Honorary Association, Anaheim Host Lions Club, Southern California Special Olympics, the YMCA, Paint Your Heart Out Anaheim, the City of Hope Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation, Learning for Life, and Cops 4 Kids.

Hoagy and his wife Patty just celebrated their 1 year anniversary and and are proud parents of 4 daughters and 5 grandchildren.  He holds his family and his community in the highest esteem.
